Walking the way to health (WHI)

The 'walking the way to health' Initiative (WHI) aims to get more people walking in their own communities, especially people who take little exercise or live in areas of poor health. Among some black and minority ethnic groups (particularly South Asian women) the proportion of people who are sedentary is far higher than in the general population. For more information on promoting activity to those from black and ethnic minorities consult the Health Education Authority's 'Active for Life' guidelines on 'Promoting physical activity with black and minority ethnic groups'.
