Possible Issues faced by Refugees and Asylum Seekers

• Bear in mind that the patient may be extremely anxious about the security of personal information;
• Issues of trust may be problematic;
• Never contact the local embassy of their country of origin for information; instead use organisations such as Human Rights Watch: 0207 713 1995 or Amnesty International: 0207 413 5500;
• It is usually unwise to put patients from the same country in the same therapeutic group.
